Around 11 lakh students are estimated to take the Class 10 state board exams that begin on March 26th, 2014. Of the 11 lakh students, 10.38 lakh will take the exams through the school and 65,000 will take them as private candidates in 3,300 exam centres across the state of Tamilnadu. This year, the directorate of government, Tamilnadu Examinations advanced the exam timing by 45 minutes from the usual 10am slot. Some students and parents welcomed the change, but others expressed concern. Besides the change in timing, the department also introduced a new answer booklet with the top sheet pre-filled with student details. The booklet will have 30 pages. With the booklet, students will not need extra sheets.
